But that would take you out of stock class!

First do wheels, tires, air filter, and one swaybar(front or rear). Doing any of those things will keep you in stock class.

I'm not even sure what class I'm in right now! Not that it matters... because I'm not even competitive as my car needs suspension (rides too high), swaybars (already has a 22mm front, no rear)... 225/40R18 tires are what I need ;) That or 235/35R19 on 19x9 :)

suspension would put it out of stock class so no (doing anything that would put you out of stock class is even less competitive, so what's the point?)

Put on a rear swaybar

What's your stock wheel size?

Stock wheel is 16x6.5 with 205/55R16

Highline model has 17x7 with 225/45R17 tires ;)

Stop winking. The smaller the better. Smaller means lighter.

In stock class, you're allowed to fit wheels one inch smaller or larger to your car. Can 15s clear your brakes? If so, I suggest getting 15s, and Dunlop ZII star specs.

I don't think 15's will clear... 312mm front rotors

Look it up on the forums! Your stock 16s will do fine then, just get those Dunlops and a rear swaybar!

but WHY

there's no point, it's just put you in a different class?! What's the point of putting modifications on the car if they're not being used competitively!?

What does it matter if the FiST is in the same class as me?!?! FiST DESTROYS ALL IN H STREET/STOCK

This is true. But does a FiST show up in your region?

YES :'(

That and I'm going to college in OKC next year... and there will be many more cars

So why spend the money to mod anything....just go out and have fun. Modifying won't get you anywhere, so why do it, you'll still produce the same results

That's the thing! My car can't go any faster! I was running laps consistently within 1/2 second of eachother last time I took it autocrossing! The wheels and tires and suspension were holding it back! What I want is a track and autocross capable car without buying another car!

Kinja'd!!! Brian Silvestro > Sportwägen, Driver Of The Red Sportwagen

Kinja'd!!!0

First off, every car is autocross capable. (except for those explicitly banned from participating)

The only thing your car needs to be track day capable is better brake pads/fluid. And that's it.

But the mod bug! How about the front bumper and sideskirts? Golf R front bumper and Votex sideskirts???

HS I think. Check the rule book.

You'd be better off there than in the open class because I'm in STO6 as well, and no offense but you ain't beatin me.

That's just a waste of money because it doesn't do anything, and will only devalue it.

I know that... my station wagon would need to gain around 100 HP and 150 tq and lose about 500lb and actually have good handling... and then there's the drivers :'( I'm nowhere near as good at manhandling a car as you are.

I'm not planning on selling my car though (EVER)

It already has 80k miles on it, the front bumper looks like shit (it's covered with rock chips, the clear coat is peeling, it is cracked and scratched, etc) If I'm the only one who ever drives it and I don't plan on selling it what does it matter if it is devalued?

Also, Golf R Sportwagen, that's why!

Oh, if you never plan on selling it, just mod EVERYTHING

I know! For now, it's under my parents' name, so I can't sell it, even if I wanted to... they said they will title it over to me when I graduate college (if it survives that long, they say)

But I'm free to mod it if I want ;) Golf R bumper, Votex sideskirts (actually an option from the factory!!!), Votex rear bumper... etc

That and as JayhawkJake said, just run it in STO6 class! Open class FTW!

I actually currently run it in STO6... so no loss :)
